Wonderful Weekend, Wreck of a Week

We celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day weekend visiting all the great-grandmothers in Shreveport & Henderson. It was great to see Nonnie, and although her treatments are hard on her body, her spirit is still the same. Caden enjoyed eating apple sauce with her and Nonnie very much enjoyed meeting her 19th great grandchild! No time to play at the boats for Kyle, but fortunately there are casinos in Budapest, so there is no "this is the last chance..." talk.

We spent the remainder of the weekend at the lake with Babee & Poppy and Jeff & Shannon. We had a lot of fun and the grown-ups stayed up WAY TOO LATE, especially for those that had to be up in the middle of the night too. Jeff was the best playmate for Caden. On Mother's Day we enjoyed a nice lunch with Meme & Bebe and aunts and uncles as well. We will really miss spending this summer at the lake as Caden is really into fishing and the new slip n' slide! He finally figured out that walking on it is not the best idea. Check out the video below. More pictures from the weekend are posted in our snap shots.

Following such a wonderful weekend was a crazy week. The packers and movers came on Tuesday and Wednesday to load our belongings on a container for shipment to Budapest. I thought I was organized, but it was still pretty stressful. I only had them unpack 1 or 2 boxes because they had put stuff in there I did not want making the trip, but overall it went smoothly. It was a little nerve racking to see our stuff drive away. Here's hoping we will see it (in good condition) in just a few weeks! On top of all this, Miss Reese decided to throw in a growth spurt, which has kept me up every 2-3 hours each night since Monday. Lack of sleep and missing belongings has led to many bouts of tears for me, but it is getting better. I continue to focus on getting at least a few things done every day and mix in a little rest when possible.

All in all, the memories we made this weekend with the kids and it being my first Mother's Day as a mommy of two, it was a wonderful weekend. Kyle reminded me also that this was a good week too because we are one step closer to being done with the move. Growth spurts don't last forever (right?!).

Mere, your family is adorable. You've done a great job on the blog, by the way. Reese is definitely growing strong. She'll be bigger than Carter soon! Keep us up to day on the move...it has to be stressful.

Take care,
Mel
