Today at Caden's school we celebrated "Farsang" - a celebration intended to frighten away winter and bring on the sun! The season of Farsang is the entire month of February and is filled with festivals, carnivals, "fancy dress" street parades and open-air music. You could say this celebration is similar to the U.S. Halloween celebration.
Today's party required "fancy dress" and Caden made the decision to be a cowboy. Great timing because we just inherited a pair of boots from our friend Dane! He looked so cute with his outfit on and desperately tried to keep his hat from falling off the entire party.
His outfit came with two toy pistols, which we like to call lasers in our house. Seriously, what is it with boys and guns, cars and wrestling. Something innate.
We had a wonderful time playing carnival games and enjoying the traditional Hungarian fank (donut). Guess what - the celebration must have worked because today is the first day we have seen the sun all week. Thank goodness for Farsang!!

I love the traditions that Caden is getting exposed to. Not to worry about the gun thing...lasers will be okay for now...but trust me (a mom of 2 boys)...little boys just have to do all of those "boyish" things...they really do out grow it. Lele has to get use to the "laser" word....
